Looking at the Configurator image Equalizer APO is now activated on "Speakers". But if you still get that popup message it suggests something is wrong. First lets ignore that and check if Equalizer APO is working. Add a pre amplifying command and increase or decrease it whilst playing some sound/music.

Audio amateur here. So Equalizer APO is a system-wide equalizer which supports VST plugins. Due to a longtime hearing condition which effects my perception of pitch, I have to pitch-shift/correct everything I hear on the computer -- roughly half a semitone downward -- so music and movies sound like normal again when using Netflix, Spotify, YouTube and stuff.

When I install EQ APO, it would work with one device and if I tried to switch between my PC's speakers and headphones, or switch between EQ presets, it would pretty much brick the app and nothing brought it back. I've literally spent hours troubleshooting it, digging through all kinds of threads on the internet. Fixed: When the Include command was used to load the configuration file itself or another file including the file, Equalizer APO could crash. The recursion depth is now limited to 100. Added: High DPI support for the Configuration Editor. Icons and proportions should look better now when DPI scaling is used.
Adobe Audition is currently the most reliable Digital Audio Workstation that allows you to professionally edit any audio format. You can use it to record, edit, mix, and even restore audio files. Audition comes with two types of equalizers: the parametric equalizer and the graphic equalizer.

Then go to Services (Windows app) and restart 'Windows Audio'. Voila, EqAPO will start working again. You don't have to reboot, you can just restart the Windows Audio service. You can do this through the Services app, or there is even a button there in Peace.
