Top Voted Answer. You are not missing on any stealth mechanisms. The only thing I would add is to blend in with the crowd whenever possible, but I am assuming you already knew and do that. A lot of the missions in this game, and even the previous Assassin's Creed games, seem to be designed in a manner that promotes action instead of stealth.
None of the outfits are DLC, sans for the Ezio outfit that you can only unlock with Uplay points. I don't know the exact details, but I know you can get Achilles' robes, Altair's outfit, Ezio's outfit, Connor's (Insert name of his village here) outfit, and I think several more. None are DLC, just hard to obtain.
